Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT)

This approach focuses on helping individuals identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, often guided by a clinical psychologist or educational psychologist, and replacing them with healthier, more effective patterns through various mental health services.

Dialectical Behavioural therapy(DBT)

A clinical psychologist or educational psychologist can help individuals build skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and relationship effectiveness through various mental health services.

Schema therapy(ST)

Addresses long-standing emotional patterns and unmet needs by combining cognitive, behavioral, and experiential techniques, which are often utilized by a clinical psychologist or educational psychologist in their mental health services.

Acceptance Commitment therapy(ACT)

A clinical psychologist helps clients accept difficult internal experiences, clarify values, and take meaningful action to improve wellbeing, while an educational psychologist provides essential mental health services to support learning and personal development.

Internal Family system(IFS)

A clinical psychologist helps clients understand and work with their inner parts, reduce internal conflict, and build a stronger, calmer core Self, while educational psychologists provide valuable insights into mental health services that support this journey.

Transference focused Psychotherapy(TFP)

A structured, relational therapy provided by clinical psychologists that focuses on understanding intense emotions, improving relationship patterns, and developing stable, healthy ways of relating to oneself and others. Educational psychologists also play a vital role in offering mental health services that enhance emotional well-being.

Play Therapy

Trauma-Informed Care

A clinical psychologist ensures safety, choice, and empowerment while addressing the effects of trauma on the mind, body, and relationships, similar to the role of an educational psychologist in providing essential mental health services.

Compassion Focused therapy(CFT)

Motivational Interviewing

A clinical psychologist helps clients explore ambivalence, strengthen motivation, and build confidence to make meaningful behavioral changes, while an educational psychologist offers essential mental health services to support these goals.

Narrative therapy

A clinical psychologist helps clients separate themselves from their problems and re-author their story by focusing on strengths, values, and preferred ways of living, while an educational psychologist may provide valuable insights through tailored mental health services.

Book cover for Schema Therapy addressing grief and loss by Mandana Shaban and colleagues.

Schema therapy for grief and loss

Schema Therapy for Grief and Loss, authored by Dr. Mandana Shaban, Sheida Shirvani, and Hamid Haji babaei, presents a pioneering integration of schema therapy with contemporary grief research and clinical practice. This comprehensive guide explores the multifaceted experience of grief—normal and complicated—through psychological, emotional, cultural, and relational lenses, making it a valuable resource for clinical psychologists and educational psychologists alike. The book introduces an evidence-based schema therapy treatment protocol specifically designed for grief, examining how early maladaptive schemas and schema modes shape the bereavement process, which is crucial for mental health services.

Key features include a thorough analysis of grief types, diagnostic criteria, cultural factors, and therapeutic techniques such as imagery, letter writing, and mode work. Designed for clinicians, researchers, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of grief, the book offers both theoretical insights and practical interventions to facilitate healing and meaning-making after loss.
